초록/요약

본 연구는 게임이 갖는 문화적 활동의 의미를 고려하여 부모와 자녀 간 인식 격차를 해소할 방안 마련의 기초자료를 제시하기 위해 초·중·고등학교에 재학 중인 자녀를 둔 학부모 176명과 초·중·고등학생 191명을 대상으로 설문을 진행하였다. 분석 결과, 부모 세대와 자녀 세대 모두 모바일 게임을 가장 많이 이용하고 있었으며, 게임이 일상적 여가 활동으로 자리 잡고 있음을 확인하였다. 부모의 게임 이용 태도가 긍정적일수록 자녀에 대한 게임양육태도 수준이 높았고, 부모의 게임 이용 습관에 따라 부모가 자주 게임을 이용할수록 자녀의 게임윤리가 높게 나타났다. 또한, 부모와 자녀 간의 게임 관련 대화가 원활할수록 자녀의 게임행동 수준이 높았으며, 일상생활 및 학업 관련 문제는 낮게 나타났다. 본 연구는 부모의 게임 이용 습관 및 태도와 자녀의 게임행동 간 관계성을 확인하였으며, 게임을 아동·청소년의 여가이자 소통의 매개체로 인식하고 이에 대해 적극적으로 대화하는 부모의 역할이 중요함을 제시하였다. 향후 디지털 세대 간 인식 격차 해소와 건강한 게임 문화 정착을 위한 교육 및 정책 개발에 시사점을 제공한다.

초록/요약

This study aims to provide foundational data for developing strategies to bridge the perception gap between parents and children by considering the cultural significance of gaming. A survey was conducted with 176 parents of children attending elementary, middle, or high school, and 191 students from the same educational levels. The analysis revealed that both parents and children predominantly played mobile games, indicating that gaming has become a routine leisure activity. More positive parental attitudes toward their own game use were associated with higher levels of parental gaming attitudes toward their children. Additionally, parents who frequently engaged in gaming had children with higher levels of gaming ethics. Moreover, smoother communication between parents and children regarding games was linked to more positive gaming behaviors in children and fewer problems related to daily life and academics. These findings confirm the relationship between parents’ gaming habits and attitudes and their children’s gaming behaviors, emphasizing the importance of parents’ active engagement and open communication about gaming as a medium for leisure and social connection. This study offers implications for future educational and policy initiatives aimed at narrowing the digital generation gap and promoting a healthy gaming culture.
