본 연구는 초등학생의 행복감에 영향을 미치는 개인, 가구, 학교(교사) 수준의 요인을 탐색하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 육아정책연구소의 한국아동패널 10차년도(2017) 자료를 바탕으로 위계적 회귀분석을 적용하여 분석하였다. 본 연구에서 도출된 주요 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 아동 개인 변인 중 교사선호도, 학교적응, 자아존중감, 교사 지지는 아동의 행복감에 유의한 영향을 미치는 반면 아동의 성별, 문제행동은 통계적으로 유의한 영향을 미치지 않았다. 둘째, 가구변인 중 부모 학력이나 월 소득, 부모감독은 아동의 행복에 유의한 영향을 미치지 못했으나, 부모의 학교생활 관심 정도와 부모의 학교생활 참여도는 유의한 영향을 주었다. 셋째, 학교(교사) 요인 중 교사 대 학생비율이나 교사 성별 및 경력은 영향을 미치지 않았으며, 교사가 인식하는 아동과의 관계도 아동의 행복감과 유의한 관계를 보이지 않았다. 이러한 연구 결과를 토대로 본 연구는 아동의 자아존중감 및 학교적응 증진을 위한 제언과 교사 수준에서의 아동의 행복감 제고를 위한 방안 등을 논의하였다.

The purpose of this study was to examine the student, household and school(teacher) characteristics that affect the school happiness of elementary school students. The study used the data from the 10nd Panel Study on Korean Children of Korea Institute of Child Care and Education and employed Hierarchical Analysis. The results of this study were as follows. First, teacher preference, school adjustment, self-esteem and teacher support were significant affecting factors on happiness of students. Importantly, student self-esteem was the most influential variable that affected student happiness. Second, among household factors, only parents' school involvement and concern turned out to be the significant factor on student happiness while the other variables like the parents' education level or economic backgrounds did not. Third, school(teachers') characteristics were not significant Major findings showed that self-esteem could be enhanced in some ways and strategies for improving the relationship between teacher and students were needed.
