버추얼 아이돌 팬덤의 인정투쟁 : 팬덤 간의 위계와 오타쿠에 대한 사회적 인식을 중심으로
The Struggle for Recognition in Virtual Idol Fandom: Focused on Hierarchies between Fandoms and Social Perceptions of Otaku

본 연구는 버추얼 아이돌 <플레이브> 팬덤에 집중하여, 버추얼 아이돌 팬덤에서 발생하는 역동과 이들이 경험한 갈등을 인정투쟁 이론을 통해 해석하고자 하였다. 본 연구는 버추얼 아이돌과 그 팬덤이 지닌 특성이 사회문화적인 인식을 통해 어떻게 팬덤 사이에서 위계를 형성할 수 있는지 파악하고, 인정을 둘러싼 버추얼 아이돌 팬덤의 실천을 논의한다. 연구 결과, <플레이브> 팬덤은 자신의 정체성을 부정하는 기존의 가치질서를 인식하고, 기존의 가치질서 확대 혹은 새로운 가치질서를 요구하는 인정투쟁을 전개한다. 이때 팬덤의 공동체적 목적을 이루기 위해 등장한 진정성 담론은 지나치게 과열될 경우, 오히려 공동체의 위기를 야기할 수 있다.

This study focuses on the virtual idol fandom of <PLAVE> and attempts to interpret the dynamics of virtual idol fandom and the conflicts they experience through the lens of recognition struggle theory. This study identifies how the characteristics of virtual idol and their fandom can create hierarchies among fandoms through socio-cultural perceptions, and discusses the practices of virtual idol fandom around recognition. The results of the study show that the fandom of <PLAVE> recognizes an existing the value order that denies their identity and engages in recognition struggles to expand the existing value order or demand a new value order. In this case, the discourse of authenticity, which emerged to fulfill the communal purpose of fandom, can cause a crisis of community if it is overheated.
