외국인 학부생의 학문적 문식성 제고 방안 연구 : 학습자의 학문적 문식성 양상 분석을 중심으로

초록/요약
This study aims to demonstrate that international students must possess academic literacy to succeed in their academic endeavors at Korean universities. To achieve this, the study first reviewed existing literature on academic literacy and discussed the concept and subcomponents of academic literacy within the context of Korean language education. In this study, we define broadly academic literacy as the capability that allows learners to successfully engage in academic activities within the university community, contribute to the development of the community, and continue their personal growth. The subcomponents of academic literacy include linguistic literacy, academic community literacy, information literacy, critical literacy, digital literacy, and practical literacy. Based on these conceptualizations, we developed criteria to analyze academic reports from three learners (two Chinese and one Vietnamese) and conducted in-depth interviews with the learners to explore their academic literacies. Based on the results of analyzing the academic literacy of the three learners, we discuss various educational implications and propose the development of a learners' academic literacy profile as a way to improve learners' academic literacy. In addition, the areas of utilization of the learners' academic literacy profile were divided into 'micro-level', 'meso-level', and 'macro-level' to discuss how to utilize the learner's academic literacy profile. Among them, the utilization of the learners' academic literacy profile at the 'micro-level' was discussed in detail. The contribution of this study is that its detailed analysis of the academic literacy of foreign undergraduate students through an integrated research method and it suggested educational measures to improve learners' academic literacy based on the results. However, there are also limitations in that the analysis was limited to three learners, making it difficult to generalize the results. Additionally, the study did not extensively address how to use the learners' academic literacy profiles at the 'meso-level' and 'macro-level' applications of the academic literacy profile. Future research is needed to focus on these aspects to provide a more comprehensive understanding of using learner academic literacy profiles at these levels.

본 연구는 외국인 유학생들이 한국 대학에서 성공적인 학업 활동을 수행하기 위해서는 학문적 문식성을 갖춰야 한다고 주장하고 학습자의 학문적 문식성 양상을 면밀히 분석함으로써 학습자의 학문적 문식성을 제고할 수 있는 교육적 방안을 모색하는 데에 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해서 먼저 학문적 문식성에 관련된 기존 연구들을 비판적으로 검토하여 한국어교육에서의 학문적 문식성의 개념 및 하위 요소에 대해 논의하였다. 본 연구에서는 학습자가 대학 공동체에서 수학 활동을 성공적으로 수행하고 나아가 학문적 성장을 이뤄내며 소속 공동체의 발전에 기여할 수 있는 넓은 범위에서의 학문적 문식성 개념을 살펴봤으며 학문적 문식성의 하위 요소를 언어적 문식성, 학문 공동체 문식성, 정보 문식성, 비판적 문식성, 디지털 문식성, 실천적 문식성으로 구체화하였다. 도출한 학문적 문식성의 개념 및 층위를 바탕으로 학습자의 학문적 문식성 분석 기준을 개발하였다. 그리고 개발한 분석 기준으로 학습자 세 명(중국인 학습자 2명, 베트남인 학습자 1명)이 작성한 학문적 보고서 결과물을 면밀히 분석하고 학습자를 대상으로 심층 인터뷰를 진행하여 그들의 학문적 문식성 양상을 살펴봤다. 본 연구는 세 학습자의 학문적 문식성 양상을 분석한 결과를 토대로 얻을 수 있는 여러 가지 교육적 시사점을 논의하고 학습자의 학문적 문식성을 제고할 수 있는 방안으로 ‘학습자의 학문적 문식성 프로파일’ 개발을 제시하였다. 또한 ‘학습자의 학문적 문식성 프로파일’ 활용 영역을 ‘미시적 차원’, ‘중간 차원’, ‘거시적 차원’으로 나누어 학습자의 학문적 문식성 프로파일 활용 방안에 대해서 논의하였다. 그 중 특히 ‘미시적 차원’에서의 ‘학습자의 학문적 문식성 프로파일’ 활용 방안을 중점적으로 다뤘다. 본 연구는 통합적인 연구 방법을 통해 외국인 학부생의 학문적 문식성 양상을 면밀히 분석하고 이를 토대로 학습자의 학문적 문식성을 제고할 수 있는 교육적 방안을 제시했다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 그러나 분석 대상이 학습자 세 명에 한정되어 그 결과를 일반화하기 쉽지 않고 학습자의 학문적 문식성 제고 방안에서 제시한 ‘중간 차원’과 ‘거시적 차원’에서의 학습자 학문적 문식성 프로파일 활용 방안에 대해서 심도 있게 다루지 못했다는 점에서는 한계가 존재한다. 추후 본 연구의 내용을 바탕으로 ‘중간 차원’과 ‘거시적 차원’에서의 학습자 학문적 문식성 프로파일 활용 방안에 대한 구체적인 논의가 진행되기를 기대한다.
