모든 공간의 안과 밖을 구분하는 틀은 생각과 달리 고정되어 있는 것이 아니라, 그때그때 지배적 권력을 통해 구성되는 것이다. 이것은 동시에 그 공간에 부응하는 몸에 대한 분류와 배치에도 영향을 미친다. 본 논문은 이와 관련해 사회학과 지리학, 특히 페미니즘 지리학 등에서 진행되는 일련의 이론을 기반으로, 지금까지 극장 공간과 몸의 관계에 주목하고자 한다. 이제껏 극장 안에서 소위 보편으로 인정받지 못했던 자들이 자신의 몸을 주체로 당당히 드러내 자기를 선언하는 것은, 향후 극장이 진정한 해방과 평등한 향유의 공간으로 새롭게 구성되어야 한다는 선언임을 밝히고자 한다. 이를 위해 우선 본 논문은 근대 이후 소위 자신을 합리적 보편으로 지시하는 권력에 의해 극장 공간이 어떻게 통제, 균질화되었는지, 그리고 배우의 몸이 그 권력을 재현하는 도구로 기호화되었는가에 대해 살펴볼 것이다. 그리고 극장에서 이제껏 배제되었던 몸을 ‘공연’함으로써, 기존 공간의 관습적 기능과 위계를 무너뜨리는 공연 사례를 통해, 우리의 극장이 다른 몸들, 다른 주체들이 함께 존재하며 커뮤니케이션하는 다층적 공간으로서 존재해야 하는 이유와 필요성을 공공성의 맥락에서 제안하고자 한다.

초록/요약

All spaces are constructed through powers that govern there. They also determine which bodies in there are universal or normal. The problem is that in the process, other bodies that do not meet the standards are unilaterally excluded or denigrated. This paper pay attention to bodies in theater, which have not been recognized as so-called universal by such power. And then it reveals that they declare us that theater must be produced as new spaces of true liberation and equal enjoyment. To this end, first, this paper attempts to examine how powers that have universalized themselves control and unify theater spaces, and then how they have made actors as tools to rationalize themselves theatrically. Then, it pay attention to some performance cases that break down the conventional function and hierarchy of existing spaces by ‘performing’ bodies that have been excluded from the theater. Through them, this paper proposes in the context of publicity why our theater should be reborn as multi-layered and open spaces where different bodies and other subjects exist and communicate together.
