This paper aims to examine the realizations in the former part of the 20th century’s spoken Korean. In this study, the spoken Korean data of the former part of the 20th century were divided according by mode, tenor and field. From among these, the properties of degree adverbs were discussed by dividing the unidirectional and the bidirectional data in accordance with the mode. The result of this study, the difference in the mode of unidirectional and bidirectional has been found that there is associated with the differences in realization of degree adverbs. The degree adverbs are in generally frequent use in the bidirectional than unidirectional data. The degree adverbs best shown the difference of the type was ‘gajang’ and ‘jeil’. ‘Gajang’ is observed at a high rate of unidirectional data, while ‘jeil’ at a high rate of bidirectional data. In addition, the closer to the bidirectional data, the rates of uses of ‘jom’ or ‘aju’ were high. And it was observed ‘manhi’ and ‘jeongmal’ used as the degree adverbs in the bidirectional data.
