The Effects of ARCS Strategy Applied to PE Class on Woman's Middle School Students' Physical Self-Concept and Self-Efficacy

The purpose of this study was to explore the physical self-concept and self-efficacy, which was designed to induce and maintain learning motivation and to suggest some implications for physical instruction. In order to do eight class were selected from woman's middle school and assigned to two groups: experimental group (4 class) and control group (4 class). The subjects were participated in experiments 12 time during one semester and had an physical self-concept inventory and self-efficacy inventory before and after the experiments. The results of the study were as follows: First, the experimental group in physical self-concept showed higher scores in sport competence, physical activity, pliability and general physical were increased statistically significant. Second, experimental group also showed that self-efficacy increased statistically significant. This study was expected to give an understanding of the relationship between students participation in physical education class and ARCS strategy, and to provide some meaningful insights in improving learning-motivation and designing effective physical education instruction.
