번역평가와 “용인성(acceptabilité)” : Translation Quality Assessment and "Acceptability"

Translation Quality Assessment and "Acceptability"

초록/요약

"Acceptability" is an interdisciplinary concept used in various fields, including translation studies. In translation studies, this concept is known to be linked up with the liberal translation or the readability with an emphasis on target language and culture. "Acceptability" has to do with the judgment of the reader, who decides which translation is acceptable for him; therefore it is linked directly with the issue of translation assessment. Nevertheless there is no previous concrete study about the concept of acceptability in the study of translation assessment. Our study has two objectives : (1) after considering previous works on the acceptability in the field of translation studies and textual linguistics, (2) we shall try to analyze, seen from the point of view of the criterion of acceptability, the following two theories of translation evaluation : that of Juliane House and that of Malcolm Williams. Finally, we will try to demonstrate how the acceptability criterion remains valid and effective in the evaluation of translation in general.
