Enhanced Luminescence of InGaN Quantum Well Structures with Localized Surface Plasmon by Using Sputter-Fabricated Ag Nanoparticles in an Ionic Liquid

초록/요약

Optical characteristics of InGaN/GaN active multi-quantum-well structures fabricated using Ag nanoparticles (NPs) in ionic liquids (ILs) are studied. Small, uniform Ag NPs in the ILs are synthesized via sputtering. Also, absorbance spectra of Ag NPs in the IL featured the sharp and blue shift compared to Ag/SiO2 NPs. To immobilize the ILs, Polymer-Ag NPs in ILs (PAIL) are fabricated by combining a suitable polymer and the IL. The light output is enhanced by a factor of 1.5 in the active layer coated with PAIL. This effect is caused by good matching between the localized surface plasmon resonance energy and the emission energy of the light emitting structure.
