초록/요약
In recent, there has been a growing interest for metamaterial in various fields. The metamaterial is defined as an artificial engineering structure with peculiar properties that cannot be found in nature. There are already many ways to fabricate the structure. Among them, the split ring resonator (SRR) as a unit structure of metamaterial gathers much interest thanks to its miniaturized size and ease of fabrication. However, we concentrate on the shape of the electromagnetic waves in microwave field to develop the conventional SRR. In radio frequency field, most of transmission lines are composed of flat planes, so the magnetic fields are generated as vertically dense shape. By considering this property, we proposed a new resonator it is intended for more magnetic flux to pass through. In this thesis, we propose a vertically inserted split ring resonator (SRR) in microstrip lines. Since the top and bottom layers of the resonator are electrically connected by using via holes and it has a 3-D shape, it occupies a small electrical size. Through numerical simulations and measurement, it is shown that it can provide a stronger resonance and a wider range variation of bandwidth than conventional planar SRRs and the resonant frequency and the bandwidth can be adjusted by its length and width, respectively. From the analysis of the VSRR in previous study, we apply the VSRR to bandpass filter and ultra-wideband (UWB) filter. First, we present a dual-band bandpass filter using VSRRs for WLAN/WiMAX system as an application of the resonator. Based on characteristics of a single VSRR, two bands are centered at each target frequency with narrow bandwidths. Furthermore, we can identify the possibility of the VSRR from another application in UWB bandpass filter. It provides high selectivity by building a notched band at wireless local area network (WLAN) frequency without preventing the conventional bandpass property in UWB passband.
