For an analysis of the tendency of modern floral design, popular magazines were randomly chosen, and 397 pictures related to floral design were analyzed in total. Based on criteria for the classification of floral design (Kim et al., 2010), they were classified broadly by place and by use, and the classification by place divided them into indoor floral design and outdoor floral design, while the classification by use divided them into a cut flower arrangement, potted flower arrangement, floral decoration for clothing and flower pattern. The cut flower arrangement was sub-divided into hair, Corsage/Boutonniere, hand bouquet, basket/floral arrangement/fruit decor and Garland and Wreath. Of the cut flower arrangements, the item of product display was newly added to modern floral design. For an analysis of tones, the frequency and scope of colors and tunes were quantified. As a result, there were more floral designs by use. Of the floral designs used frequently in the Rococo period, a total of 41 pieces were hair floral decorations. As for the kinds of flowers appearing in paintings in the Rococo period, as a result of an analysis, there were a total of 42 species, and as a result of an analysis of the frequency of the appearance of the whole flowers, the highest appearance was rose, followed by Anemone Ranunculus, Lilac and Tulip. It was found large, colorful and strong scented flowers were frequently used in the outward appearance. As a result of an analysis of the tones expressed in floral design in the Rococo period, highest appearance the range of colors was R, the range of tones was pl. Rather than vivid primary colors, most were those with high brightness and low chroma, and through a combination of these tones, soft and elegant feels were given. Therefore, floral design in the Rococo period was used for various usages, which was not a selection as a special painting material exclusively represented, but a result that projects what the life was at the time as it was. As a result of an analysis of the trend of modern floral design, there were more flower designs by use. In modern floral design, cut flower arrangements were mainly used as floral design, most of which were display goods. As for the kinds of flowers in modern floral design, as a result of an analysis of the frequency of the appearance of all flowers with a total of 98 species, the highest appearance was rose. followed by Hydrangea, Eucalyptus, Lisianthus and Ranunculus. In addition, as a result of an analysis of tones, the range of colors was R, while the range of tones was pl, wh, st and vv . It is judged that the result obtained through this study will play a great role in developing South Korean modern floral design through historical art culture. Hopefully, it is expected that this study will establish floral design cultural history and have an effect on the promotion of the consumption of flowers through floral design, and it can be used as a material and a means to understand the flow of modern floral design.
