With the rapid development of car networking, drivers can conveniently use vehicle terminal devices to utilize various in-car systems. Meanwhile, smartphone applications have already been widely used throughout people’s daily life. This study aims to examine the current status of and the future prospects for connected car services by in-car systems and car-related mobile applications (car apps). This research has proceeded in two steps: First, it investigated connected car services of in-car systems by automakers and of car apps available from major app stores; in the second step, an empirical study was carried out to understand the view of drivers in China
