초록/요약
This thesis analyzes how railroad developments contribute to the economy, particularly to the economy of Mongolia. Closely analyzing the implications of future railroad developments in Mongolia and contributing recommendations on improving the railroad development resolution is the main objective of this thesis. Mongolia is a landlocked country with rich mineral resources that borders Russia and China. On the one hand, building an extensive railroad network in Mongolia means more trade with its neighbors and opens up export outlets to more trading partners. On the other hand, solely relying on raw material exports and creating more export outlets will lead to quicker resource depletion for Mongolia. One of the biggest challenges Mongolia is facing is its underdeveloped regional infrastructure and lack of industrialization. Rather than utilizing railroad development to only increase exports, utilizing railroads to boost regional economic development and encouraging industrialization simultaneously is essential in order to achieve a sustainable economic development.
