This study focused on identifying the qualities of the green-oriented city planning that allegedly to aid the city to become sustainable. There are two major directions of green-oriented planning – satellite city and Garden City concept, however this study only highlights on the Garden City concept that also can be considered as the Green City concept. A comparative analysis was made between two newly planned administrative cities – Putrajaya and Sejong City. Both cities have almost the same traits and share the same goal to become a model sustainable city. The approaches taken by both cities were compared and analyzed. The only consideration taken was solely the green and blue infrastructures, which is believed to be the core of sustainability. Culture and climate influence the planning more than any other traits. The satisfaction of the urban residents is what most important and how the planning can assist the urbanites to have quality urban life that often associates with the term sustainability. Rather than to identify which city is better, how can both cities learn from one another is the utmost vital.
