초록/요약
This paper is focusing on the rise of China and India while discussing how the rising trend of these two countries implies to nearby developing economies. The thesis paid attention to ASEAN (Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand) as the main case study. This study has chosen China and India as the main focus because they are rapidly emerging and each one of them is evolving in its own distinctive strategies and characteristics. Therefore the implications in response toward nearby developing economies are in questions. „Chindia‟ is a term describing a phenomenon of the rise of China and India in the modern era of twenty-first century. The two countries have rapidly emerged in their economic area through trade liberalization and international integration. China became the factory of the world, expanding in fast pace through exporting while India specializes in “back- of-the-house” services providing information and technology services. The two rising giants continue to insert their economic power and became influential players among neighboring countries, regional level and beyond. The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region geographically sits between China and India and it also represents a group of developing countries. Thus, it is not possible for ASEAN to avoid any impacts and trade opportunities from the rise of Chindia phenomenon. Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand are the rising tigers among ASEAN region and they perfectly represents the region in various ways. Thus, the crucial chapter of this study will analyze the comparative evaluation between China‟s rise impacts and India‟s rise impacts toward the three ASEAN members. The difference of the implication of China and India expect to be reviewed.
