초록/요약

Abstract The purpose of this paper is to examine the disruptions of Japan‟s supply networks in the wake of the Tohoku earthquake and its impact around the globe. Though the stricken regions account for only a small part of Japan‟s total GDP, their roles in supplying parts and components are significant in the global market and in some cases, they are the only producers of certain goods. Especially, three sectors, automobiles, electronics and semiconductors have been producing and distributing key products to world‟s biggest manufactures. Due to their significances the disruptions of Japan‟s supply chain has resulted in disruption of the global supply networks. Immediately after, several countermeasures were formulated, but some of them were just short-term fixes only targeting the preparedness for sudden disaster. It is crucial to be prepared for the unknown disaster however, the methods should be considered in terms of several factors that Japan‟s national economic situations and the circumstances that Japan is being surrounded.
