The Effects of Compositional Variation on Magnetic Properties of CoFe/Au Nanobarcodes

A multi-component and multi-segment nanostructure capable of performing the multiplexing, can be a powerful option for the biomolecular detection. Here we report the synthesis of multifunctional magnetic nanobarcodes via pulsed electrodeposition method in one bath. Alternatively layered CoFe alloy and Au segments from two different electrical potentials formed the multilayered nanostructure, of which structure and properties were analyzed by SEM, TEM, XRD, EDX, ICP-AES and VSM. The obtained nanobarcodes with three different cases of Co-rich, CoFe even and Fe-rich exhibit different magnetic characteristics as a result of the compositional variations.
