Financial cooperation in East Asia is not such a new idea any more. Since the Asian Crisis in 1997-98, East Asian countries suffered from the unexpected financial difficulties and have began to realize its necessity. Accordingly lots of discussion for more effective financial cooperation in the region has been made. The financial cooperation in East Asia is more important in terms of firstly prevention of future crisis, secondly increase of intra-regional trade and investment and lastly strengthening intra-regional financial market. This paper is to provide a view on the relevant issues and process, and future prospects for regional financial cooperation in East Asia.
