초록/요약 도움말

After the Second World War, states recognized the need of creating an international organization which had the aptitude to make and keep peace in the world. Following this the UN was established and its role and importance in the global arena have henceforth grown in significance. No matter how much the UN has been trying to enlarge its role as an independent peace keeper and a peace maker, it could not have succeeded without close cooperation and support by the states which formulate the very core of UN. Hence, it is very much influenced by its relation to individual states. The relation to the US, being the one superpower in the world, is especially important, and its cooperation should be apt to enhance the possibilities to keep world peace and improve the international society. Still, even though public opinion might suggest that the relation between the two is mostly o~f~ten on good terms, the reality is somewhat different, being more of an ad hoc nature changing depending on the current world setting. Through this paper, I will suggest general history of the relation between UN and the US with theoretical background, the current situation of Bush administration, implications of the UN improvements and wrap up with future prospects.
