Taxonomic Review of the Korean Gomphidae (Insect: Odonata)

초록/요약

Korean species of the dragonfly family Gomphidae are reviewed based on comprehensive specimen and literature examinations. The family can be morphologically defined by separated compound eyes, yellowish body color, and similar shape of triangle cells on forewings and hindwings. Eighteen species of the family belonging to 13 genera have been recorded in South Korea since the 1930s.. In this study, 22 species of Korean Gomphidae are reviewed including 4 species new to Korea. Asiagomphus pryeri is recorded for the first time in South Korea. Three North Korean species in the genus Davidius are added. Gomphus postocularis is treated as the subspecies Shaogomphus postocularis epophthalmus. Larval stage of Burmagomphus KUa is identified as Burmagomphus collaris. Ophiogomphus forficula is treated as the synonym of O. obscurus not O. reductus. Identification keys, synonyms, descriptions, diagnoses, illustrations, distributions, and taxonomic remarks are provided.
