A Sync-less MAC Protocol for Cognitive Radio Networks

초록/요약

Cognitive radio devices equipped with a single radio interface have the multi-channel hidden terminal problem and the existing decentralized channel allocation protocols solve the problem by utilizing strict time synchronization. To avoid the overhead caused by supporting the synchronization requirement, we propose the Sync-less Distributed MAC (SD-MAC) protocol exploiting a dedicated control channel. This approach enables some devices obtaining unoccupied channels to communicate with their receivers, while the other devices contend for channels in a control channel. The simulation results show that our protocol achieves higher throughput than the existing protocols.
