본 연구는 조손가족 조부모의 빈곤과 양육스트레스간의 관계를 규명하고 조손가족 대상 사회복지서비스의 필요성과 중요성을 알아보는데 초점을 맞추었다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 문헌연구를 통해 가설 2개(하부가설 6개)의 가설을 설정하였다. 설정된 가설 검증을 위해 SPSS 14.0을 활용하여 신뢰성 검증, 타당성 검증, 단순회귀분석, 독립표본 t-test를 실시하였다. 이를 통해 얻어진 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 주관적 빈손이 조손가족 조부모 양육스트레스에 미치는 영향에 대한 분석결과 모두 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 절대적 빈곤집단 유무에 따른 조부모 양육스트레스의 차이에 대한 분석결과 과중한 역할부담과 보육문제에 대한 양육스트레스는 두 집단 간 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 사회복지서비스 필요성을 규명한 결과 연구에 사용된 항목 모두 지원에 대한 기대를 가지고 있는 것으로 파악되었다. 본 연구의 이론적 의의는 기존 국내의 조손가족 연구 중 상대적으로 조부모 대상 연구가 부족한 현시점에서 빈곤과 조부모의 양육스트레스 간 관계 규명을 시도하여 실증적인 근거를 제시한 것이다. 실무적으로는 사회복지서비스가 빈곤한 조손가족 조부모의 손자·녀 양육 스트레스를 줄이는 데 직접적인 도움이 된다는 점을 제공하여 향후 이에 대한 정책 수립과 지원이 필요하다는 것을 제시하였다. 또한 본 연구의 한계점과 향후 연구방향을 언급하였다.

The purpose of this research examines an empirical study on poverty affecting custodial grandparents' parenting stress. Also find out the needs of social welfare service. This study includes several factors such as subjective poverty, custodial grandparents' parenting stress 1(too heavy a burden), custodial grandparents' parenting stress 2(social stigma), custodial grandparents' parenting stress 3(the bringing up of children) and social welfare services. Following the qualitative research tradition in the field, the study examines two hypotheses(sub-hypotheses is six). To test the hypotheses, the study analyzes with reliability analysis, validity analysis, exploratory factor analysis, one paired t-test and simple regression analysis using SPSS 14.0. The key findings of the study are as follows. The results suggest that subjective poverty impacts on custodial grandparents' parenting stress significantly. Also grandparents' parenting stress showed statistically valid difference according to the absolute poverty. Finally this paper suggests the needs and strategies for social welfare service on custodial grandparents. Limitations and future extentions of the study are also discussed.
