초록/요약
In this thesis, we propose a distributed MAC protocol for secondary users in cognitive radio network where primary network is IEEE 802.16m WiMAX. Our proposed multiple access control (MAC) protocol is the truncated binary exponential backoff algorithm where backoff stage is doubled at every collision and the unit of backoff counter is one frame in WiMAX and the backoff counter is freezed at a frame with no idle resource unit. We model the operation of the tagged secondary user as a 3-dimensional discrete-time Markov chain and obtain steady state probability of the Markov chain by using a censored Markov chain method. Based on this steady state probability, we obtain the total throughput and packet loss probability for SUs. Our numerical examples show that the initial contention window size and the maximum backoff stage have big impacts on the packet loss probability for secondary users. We find the optimal initial contention window size and the maximum backoff stage which maximize the throughput for secondary users while keeping the packet loss probability within a pre-determined level.
