텔레비전 드라마 제작시스템 및 미학스타일과 제작과정의 상호작용에 관한 연구: MBC TV 드라마 <태왕사신기> 사례를 중심으로

초록/요약
기존의 한국 드라마 제작 현실에서 사전전작제는 시청률 의식과 경제적인 문제로 인하여 활성화 되지 못했던 것이 사실이다. 뿐만 아니라 외주제작사를 통해 제작이 될 경우, 영세한 독립제작사들은 방송사와의 관계에서 불리한 권력관계의 위치에 놓이고 자본에 대한 위험부담도 안고 있기 때문에 저작권을 비롯한 많은 권리들을 방송사가 쉽게 가져가고 있는 것이 현실이다. 그러나 <태왕사신기>는 작품의 질을 높이기 위해 사전전작제를 표방했고 저작권을 비롯한 그 외 여러 권리들을 요구하는 등 기존의 드라마 제작문화와는 다른 모습을 보여주었으며, 이것은 참신한 미학적 스타일을 창조하는 결과로 이어졌다. 이렇게 기존 규범을 허물고 새로운 질서를 창조한 모습과 이것이 가능했던 요인, 그 안에서 참여자들이 겪었던 갈등과 노력의 과정을 살펴보는 것은 큰 의의를 갖을 것으로 생각되며, 이것이 기존의 한국 드라마 제작환경에 시사하는 함의를 분석하는 것이 이 논문의 목적이라고 할 수 있겠다. 연구를 수행하기 위하여 사용한 연구방법은 비판문화론적 접근으로 심층 인터뷰와 출판물, 태왕사신기 텍스트 등을 통한 담론분석과 제작미학분석을 통해 이루어졌다. 위의 분석을 위한 출판물 자료에는 국내외 단행본, 논문, 잡지, 보고서, 기사 등이 포함되었으며 텍스트로서는 태왕사신기 테이프와 관련 다큐멘터리를 활용하였다. 또한 이러한 사료연구의 부족함을 보완하기 위해서 구성원들의 능동적 활동과 고민과 갈등의 상황이 고려된 심층 인터뷰(in-depth interview)와 함께 진행하였다. 연구결과 태왕사신기의 사전전작제 시도와 저작권의 쟁취, SPC구조의 창출이 갖는 의의는 매우 크다고 볼 수 있으며, 궁극적으로 사전전작제를 표방함으로써 사극판타지라는 장르의 작품의 미학연출이 가능했음도 알 수 있었다. 또한 앞으로 우리나라는 파일럿 프로그램에 대한 제도의 정착, 간접광고에 대한 가이드라인 마련, 저작권 소유 문제에 관한 법적 명료화 등 정부의 적극적 개입과 의식의 성숙을 통해 텔레비전 드라마 제작시스템과 문화를 한층 더 발전시켜야 할 것이다.

In the existing Korean Drama Production, it is true that pre-production was not activated that much due to a risk of program rating and a financial problem. Also, if a production is produced by subcontracting, especially for small independent production firms, they take disadvantageous in the relationship in power between broadcasters, and also take a risk of capital. For the following reasons, it is reality that broadcasters take much of copyright and other authorities more than those independent production firms. However <Tae-wang Sa Shin Gi> reinvented a different culture of production in Drama compared to pre-existings through such things; claims to support pre-production, claims their rights in many other areas including the copyright. The final outcome of Tae-wang Sa Shin Gi was na creation of fresh aesthetic style. The purpose of this thesis is to analyze implication of environment of existing production in Korean Drama. It is significant that to know the efforts they put into and troubles that has risen in the process of producing, and also the factors that has led to a new creation with demolishing the existing standards. To accomplish the study, interview (in-depth), publications, analysis of discourse and the aesthetic production through the text from Tae-wang Sa Shin Gi. In the publications, a separate volumes inside and outside of country, other theses, magazines, reports, and articles are used, and Tae-wang Sa Shin Gi film related documentary was used for the text. As a complement of the insufficiency in historical reviews, in-depth interview was made based on the active actions and troubles risen during the production. In the results of the study, the trial of pre-production, obtaining of copyright, and production of SPC Structure made from Tae-wang Sa Shin Gi, are very significant. In the final analysis, it was possible to create genre of historical fantasy through the pre-production.
