Abstract Due to development of civilization, the trend shows that there are more intelligent high-rise buildings. It is important for these buildings to secure pleasant indoor environment along with efficient management system. The first Intelligent Building (IB) was City Place Building in the United States in 1984 with Building Management System (BMS) method where plant system for climate control of heating and air conditioning, emergency power control of generator and electrical installation for emergent situation within the building, and control of illumination depending upon the weather and outside condition were used. It is estimated that using the BMS construction method, 20~30% energy saving was achieved with 20~30% increase in productivity. The Korean Ministry of Commerce and Industry has required from January, 2007 to have an energy diagnosis for businesses using more than 2,000toe of energy, and enacted and promulgated a "Regulation of Operating Energy Diagnosis" on September 13, 2007. There are about 2,500 businesses that use more than 2,000toe of energy annually and they comprise about 33.3% of the total energy consumption in Korea. If energy diagnosis is performed in those businesses, it is likely to save about 10% of energy loss upfront and thus save 1.481 trillion won (494,000 toe/year) by spending 15.8 thousand million won for performing the energy diagnosis. Through the energy diagnosis many companies are reporting energy use problems and solutions. This study focuses on possibilities on linking the BMS method and its outcome in the energy diagnosis result and its prospective achievements.
