The purpose of this article is to make a list of poetic words used in Paek Sok''''''''s poetry and based on it, to clarify a special feature and aspect of his using poetic words. It was very difficult to understand Paek Sok''''''''s poetry because of abstruse phrases such as Pyeongbuk(평북) dialect and etc. However, Lee Sung-won(이숭원) and Koh Hyung-jin(고형진) studied his poetry consistently and steadily and they recently published 『원본 백석 시집』과 『정본 백석 시집』 with an explanation of vocabulary. This has given us the opportunity to grasp the meaning of almost every poetic word of 백석 in the context of each poem except very few of them. This article is written under the purpose of making the list of poetic words, structural understanding of them of high frequency and clarifying general aspect of Paek Sok''''''''s using his poetic words, based upon Koh Hyung-jin(고형진)''''''''s 『정본 백석 시집』. First of all, this article makes a list of poetic words from 96 poems of Paek Sok. By making statistical table according to the parts of speech and comparing with Jeong Ji-yong(정지용)''''''''s poetic words through χ2―test(chi-square test), I found out that in case of uninflected words, more of them are used in Paek Sok''''''''s poetry and that there is a little difference in adjectives expressing color, however this is not statistically noticeable nor meaningful. In total 96 poems of 백석, 3,024 poetic words are used 7,558 times. Among them, uninflected words are used 4,246 times and the total number of them is 1917. The proportion of them among all poetic words forms 56% in frequency and 63% in number. In case of Inflected words, 550 verbs are used 1782 times with 1153 inflections and 278 adjectives are used 834 times with 455 inflections. Noticeable ones among words of high frequency are ''''''''thing'''''''' repeated 156 times, ''''''''man'''''''' 58 times, and a proper noun ''''''''Bukguan(북관)'''''''' 5 times. ''''''''thing'''''''' and ''''''''man'''''''' are words with most broad denotation among words indicating human beings and things and they contribute to the formation of unique literary style with repeated sentence structures of Paek Sok''''''''s poetry. ''''''''Bukguan'''''''' functions as a special place revealing sound and crude life of people. Among inflected words, ''''''''thing'''''''' is used 38 times and acts as an important method of withstanding harsh life. The image of ''''''''white'''''''' forming almost half of words expressing color, shows Paek Sok''''''''s high-mindedness about life. ''''''''Lonely'''''''' is used 21 times and not just ending in expressing poet''''''''s mental state, it functions as a way of enhancing his life. With a parallel, a simile, one of the most frequent techniques used in Paek Sok''''''''s poetry is used as the most important method of describing things. A conjunction ''''''''and'''''''' is used 35 times and plays the role of structuralizing the meaning of parallelled things..
