This study examined professionalism and job satisfaction of a professional florist. Florists working in Seoul were surveyed from September 24, 2008∼October 28, and the results were analyzed to find out the correlation between the two factors. Subjects of the survey were 92.2% women. 52.3% were in their twenties to thirties, and 62.1% were single. 41.2% were employees and 26.8% were business owners. The greatest number of florists worked at a flower shop, and their monthly income was between 710,000 won and 1,500,000 won. 70% of the florists started to design flowers in their twenties and most had 1∼3 years' experience. As for education, most were college graduates, then came specialist college graduates, and then graduate school graduates with a master's degree. Flower cultivation and flower design major graduates covered the biggest proportion of the subjects. In terms of place where they received flower design education, the number one place was an expert academy with 44.8%, and the number of overseas license owners, Korean license owners and those non-licensed were around the same. Most people answered autonomy for the professionalism questions, and then came sense of the field, belief in self-regulation, and expertise. The average value of all the factors, excluding service to the public, was high. There was significance according to form of hire, main work, monthly income, experience and education. Expertise was high with an average of 3.63, and main work and education showed significant influences. Sense of the field was high with an average of 3.77, and age, marital status, form of hire, main work, monthly income, education and experience showed significant influences. Belief in service to the pubic was not that high with an average of 3.36, and age, gender, form of hire, income out of work, experience, and education showed significant influences. Belief in autonomy was high with an average of 3.75, and form of hire, main work, monthly income, experience and education showed significant influences. Job satisfaction of a florist was not that high with an average of 3.45 out of 5, and satisfaction of those who are married and are business owners were the highest and there was no significance between experience and education, and job satisfaction. Safety needs were not high with an average of 2.88. It was significantly influenced by age, marital status, form of hire, monthly income, average daily working hours and experience. Social needs were high with an average of 3.90. There was generally no significance with the characteristics. Florists who were under 20 years of age had the highest social needs, and in terms of education, florists with a master's degree or above had the highest social needs, and college graduates had low social needs. Esteem needs were high with an average of 3.61. Esteem needs of business owners were highest, and there was no significance in relation to any other factors. Self-actualization needs were high with an average of 3.66. form of hire, form of job, main work showed to be significant, and experience and education showed not to be significant. As a result of examining the correlation between professionalism and job satisfaction, professionalism was found to have a statistically significant positive correlation with safety needs, social needs, esteem needs, self-actualization needs, and job satisfaction. As a result of examining factors that influence job satisfaction of florists, it has an around 66.9%(R2=.669) explanatory power, and main work and sense of the field were found to have a significant positive effect on job satisfaction.
