A Study of Stability and Bone Formation of Immediately Placed 3 Different Implants with Different Appearance - No loading

초록/요약

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to compare and evaluate bone formation and stability of micro-thread type, ITI type, and Branemark implants immediately placed into sockets. Materials and Methods : The implants used in this experiment were 50 Astra type implants (Ø 4.1mm x 10mm), 50 Branemark type implants (Ø 4.1mm x 10mm), and 50 ITI type implants (Ø 4.1mm x 10mm) with HA surface. Branemark type implant and ITI type implant were classified as experimental groups and Astra type implant was used as a control. In 25 Mongrel dogs, mandibular premolars were extracted bilaterally and implants were immediately inserted. Total 150 fixtures were placed following a standard protocol. Animals were sacrificed at 1st, 2nd, 4th, 8th, and 16th weeks after implantation. New RFA (Ostell mentor) and PTV (Periotest) were measured at the time of insertion and sacrifice. Gross, radiological, histologic, and histomorphometric examinations were done and BA (bone area) and BIC (bone to implant contact) were measured by KAPPA IMAGE BASE. The t-test and 2-way ANOVA were undertaken for statistical analysis (p<0.05). Result : In this study, most immediately placed implants were healed with no inflammation in gross examination, but some radiolucency on the crest bone were existed. There was a little difference in measured data during healing periods among three types of implant, but all implants showed reduced stability at 2 weeks. New RFA and PTV in the control group (Astra type, 1 week) was higher than in the experimental groups (p<0.05). BA (Bone Area) and BIC (Bone to Implant Contact) in the control group were similar to those in the experimental groups (p<0.05). Conclusion : There were no statistically significant differences of the stability and bone formation between 3 implants. Further studies may be necessary with different conditions such as immediate loading, increased number of specimens, and improved measuring methods.
